What You'll Need
You don’t need an expensive trip to the craft shop for this one. Just raid your kitchen and utility cupboards:
White or coloured card: Folded in half—an A5 size card is absolutely perfect.
Washable paint: Choose 2–3 happy, vibrant colours. (Make sure it’s washable—your furniture will thank you later!)
A black pen or marker: For outlining the tie shape and writing your sweet message.
A small plate or palette: To pour out the paint for easy dipping.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Draw the Tie
On the front of your folded card, sketch out a simple shirt collar (a quick V-shape at the top) and a classic tie shape dangling below it. Please don't worry about using a ruler here. Wobbly lines mean it’s authentic, and that’s exactly what makes it charming.
2. Dip & Press
Pour a tiny amount of your chosen paint colours onto your plate. Have your child gently dip their index finger into the first colour and press dots all over the inside of the tie. 4. Write the Big Message
Once the paint is dry to the touch, open up the card. Help your little one write a lovely message inside, such as: “Happy Father’s Day—made with love and [Child’s Name]’s tiny fingers!” Let them go wild adding extra family drawings, kisses, or stickers.
